Please tell
me Didi auto driving is a crime? No,this question is not mine, this question
is a female auto driver, who assaulted
by another male auto drivers, while driving auto on the streets of Kolkata. Now I’m giving a brief description of this incident. Through
the media, I came to know that on 6TH February IN 2018, Tollygunj to Hazra route will be the first female
driven auto route in the city. After that, 16 women
applied for license. Among these 16 applicants have already got several
license . But sadly with Auto they could not get to the street. But why is this
so? As far as get to know, in order to prevent male auto drivers from
that route, women auto drivers can not get out of that route with auto. Complaints
like, if women drivers go out on the streets with auto, they may be raped and
getting threat from the male drivers. Male auto drivers are trying in different
ways that women auto drivers can not hire auto .Who will solve this problem? Where one of the auto union
head said that the girls are good at home. Auto
driving is not their job. Who will take
responsibility, If a female auto driver is raped by someone? I could not
believe my ears after watching this news on TV. It seems to me repeatedly that
such an incident happened in an
educated, eclectic and cultural city like Kolkata. Where the state Chief
Minister is a woman in particular that state. Although there has been a storm
of criticism from all corners of the event, as the news spread through the
media. Although many male auto drivers stood beside the female drivers for support
of them. Such an event was never expected, never . If
such incidents happen in centre of the state, then we can imagine the situation
of the districts. After this incident, various newspapers will
write for few days, leaders, ministers
will give a speech but will such event be closed? I don’t think so. Still I am a
believer that there
is a proverb in Bengali which goes like this "Biswase milaye bostu, torke bohudur." What it essentially means is
that if we believe in something, it becomes easier to achieve. There will be a
lot of obstacles in the way of life. So we will not be back. We will go ahead
with all the obstacles and move forward. Life is dynamism. This
incident is not limited in auto stands only. The incident around us is
going on constantly. The thing is that, girls are oppressed by the our nearest and
dearest someone, who claimed themselves cultured,
educated, so-called interested people who love to fear the women without any
reason. Even so, girls are moving forward. Do
not be scared someone for a long time. As seen
after this incident in order to run auto on the streets of Kolkata, the
16 women sought help from the police, assured by the police that they would be
beside of them. I believe , after few days that only 16 women auto
drivers will not go out on the streets of Calcutta, with 16
other female auto drivers added and going
to the streets. I remember Rabindranath Tagor’s lines of the famous poems
“Where the mind is without fear. and the head
is held high, where knowledge is free.’
